Pyramat S2000 Review

Game in style and comfort with the Pyramat S2000

Game in style and comfort with the Pyramat S2000

Pyramat is truly a unique and interesting company. They specialize in gaming chairs and furniture with built in speakers and woofers. Their high-end gaming chair is the S2000, a special gaming rocker chair which sits on the floor and has two built in speakers as well as a woofer. For those who sit on the floor when they play video games, or just want an excuse to get off the couch for a closer view, read on because you are in for what could be the greatest purchase of your gaming lives.

The rocker chair is not extremely large and actually looks very respectable even in a small room. In terms of it being compact, it has the ability to fold in half when you are not using it for fairly easy storage. It is built well and is also very comfortable to sit in and play games on.

The poly-stretch fabric is soft and comfortable to recline in during gaming, and stays comfortable even for very long sessions.

Game in style and comfort with the Pyramat S2000The highlight of the S2000 is that it features two 3″ full range 12 watt ARX speakers which are set up right near your head, one on the left side of your head and the other on the right. The chair also sports a 5.5″ 20 watt subwoofer positioned right on your very lower back.

In terms of inputs, the rocker chair has RCA inputs so that it can work with any console, DVD player, etc. The chair also supports audio outputs so that you can send the sound coming into the chair back out to play through your surround sound setup as well, a very nice feature.

On the right side of the chair there are wheel controls which are very easy to use. One controls the volume, one controls the bass, and the other wheel controls whether you want to use the RCA as the source for the chair’s audio or the mp3 input on the left side of the chair where a handy little pouch is set up to hold your iPod or other audio component for easy listening while you recline.

The quality of the two full-range speakers is fairly adequate, nothing revolutionary, but for the price they do the job and have a very clear and crisp sound. They do not go exceedingly loud, which is probably a good thing to save from static and loss of quality, but they go loud enough for a solid audio experience. Their positioning is also nice and adds quality to the sound as it goes straight to your head as they are positioned right on each side of your ears.

Game in style and comfort with the Pyramat S2000The subwoofer built into the chair is positioned perfectly to shake your body and get you tingling from head to toe as it is powerful enough to really allow you to feel the action. The separate control dial also means that you have control over just how much shaking you want to feel.

The best set-up for this chair that we found was with the chair being combined with a surround sound set-up. When you have a game like Madden going and you can hear the stadium all around you, while still feeling the hits thumping through your spine and the player chatter and sound effects loud and clear right at your head, there is honestly no better way to experience a game.

The S2000 from Pyramat has a price tag of $150 which is really not that steep considering that it is a high-quality piece of furniture and can be used for watching games, movies, TV, etc. I highly recommend this chair to any gamer as it will greatly enhance the atmosphere of just about any game and really put you in the action, all while allowing you to comfortably recline right in front of your TV.

The S2000 can be viewed in more detail on Pyramat’s website at http://www.pyramat.com/s2000.asp and can be purchased at http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/catalog/product/sku__PY500

Overall: 9.5 - Highly recommended!
